For Summer 2025 to preserve the current menu structure with eSyllabus and Honorlock follow these steps.
It is always a good idea to modify the import to avoid duplicating the two default modules included in the base template.
This process also works for those who want to copy individual items instead an entire course.
Step 1: Go to the Home Page of the Target Course
Start a course copy by going into the course you want to copy INTO.
Step 2: Click on Import Existing Course
Note: Depending on your screen width these options will present on the right side (wider screens) or at the bottom of the screen (narrower screens) when on the Home page of a course
Step 3: Select Copy a Canvas Course from the Content Type dropdown
Step 4: Search for your course by Course Code or CRN
Step 5: Click Select specific content and import
Step 6: Click Select Content
Step 7: Select Content to Copy
- Select all items as shown below (or as desired) omitting Course Setting and Syllabus Body
- Click the arrow next to Modules and deselect Canvas: Student Overview and Resources and General Resources and if present Taskstream.
If you only want to copy a single item or just a few items instead of the entire course, make sure to select only those specific items you want to copy to the target course.
If you're copying Quizzes, you must also select the Question Banks option if you see it on the list. Failure to select Question Banks along with Quizzes may result in tests being imported without the questions. Copying the Question Banks separately will not place them in their associated quizzes.
Step 8: Click Select Content
Step 9: Wait for import to finish
- Run time varies considerably based on amount of content in course and how busy the server is.
- In some cases it can take up to 30 minutes to complete a course copy.
- The import will cycle from Queued to Running to Completed.
