What is Honorlock?

Updated on

Online Exam Protoring

Honorlock is an online exam proctoring solution that detects cell phones, locks the tester's Internet browser, detects cell phone use, blocks AI chat bots, and then some.

Honorlock provides video monitoring, detects speech, and performs user ID verification. It also has browser lockdown capability that prevents and flags access to other applications, disables keyboard shortcuts, and more.

Honorlock at Work During Exams

Through the use of live proctoring and AI monitoring, Honorlock monitors and records testers' behavior and provides insights that instructors can use to help make decisions regarding potential integrity issues.

!! Important Information about Honorlock at PVAMU !!

Starting in the Spring 2025 semester, Honorlock will be the sole online proctoring tool supported by the Center for Instructional Innovation and Technology Services (CIITS). It's replacing Examity and Proctorio.

The Respondus LockDown Browser will remain a lockdown option, but please keep in mind that lockdown functionality is not the same as proctoring.

Lockdown is ideal for an instructor who wants to proctor their exams in-person with students in a computer lab or a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) environment. But for virtual proctoring where student testing is recorded and reviewed, Honorlock is the tool to use.
