A primary syllabus (also called a course master by the developer) contains some or all elements of the structure that applies to all sections of the related course.
Course Leads are assigned access to primary syllabus templates by department heads.
For example: All ENGL 1301 courses may use a common textbook and course level objectives. These are designated by the Course Lead and automatically cascaded down to the individual sections within a term.

The phrase Primary Syllabus will appear in the top right of the box within the Course Lead's To Do List in eSyllabus.
Department heads need to send an email request to [email protected] listing the exact course number (Ex: MATH 1324) and the instructor's name and PV email address (Mary Math, [email protected]) who should be granted course Primary status.
A single email for all course leads per term is greatly appreciated.
Requests may be sent at any time.
Note: Course Lead assignments DO NOT carry over term to term. A re-authorization email will be required for every term.
Course lead assignments can only be applied once the new term is created in eSyllabus, which is the day after eCourses shells are made.
Content from a primary syllabus carries over term to term, but the course lead assignments do not. They must be reauthorized every term.
Unfortunately, no. All sections of a specific course number are automatically connected to a primary syllabus regardless of modality.
Only one Primary Syllabus is possible per course per term. December Minimester is part of the Spring term. May minimester is part of the summer term.
Yes, but only within their assigned sections. There edits will not impact the Primary syllabus directly. All components are still editable by the those who have Teacher or Co-Teacher access in eCourses.
No. At this time that functionality only exists at the department, college and university level. Department heads may approve department level changes. Deans may approve college level changes. Dr. Quazi must approve university level changes. Course level restrictions are not available.
No. Changes to Primary syllabi do not copy down to to already written sections. Due to this it is strongly advised Course Primary's notify faculty when to begin entering syllabus information.
Note: This does not apply to new blocks added. For example, there may be blocks for specific polices that applies to all classes. If this block was not present when the section was modified, it will be added if the Primary syllabus is modified.
However if objectives are changed, they will not be updated since they were a preexisting block.
