Remediation Flow: Document: The document is untagged

Tagging only applies to PDF documents.  It allows assistive technology to parse the documents and properly convert them to audio formats.  

PDF documents that are scanned and OCRed within Ally are automatically tagged.  This situation only occurs when a document not requiring OCR lacks tags.  It requires Acrobat Pro Desktop.  Refer to our Guide on Accessing Acrobat Pro, if necessary.

Tags are distinct from headings.  Headings are denoted within the tags.

Steps to Tag a PDF Document

Step 1: Open Document in Adobe Acrobat Pro

Step 2: Click View More under All Tools

Step 3: Click Prepare for Accessibility

Step 4: Click Automatically tag PDF

Step 5: Wait for tags to build.  May take several minutes

Step 6: Save Document

Step 7: Upload in Ally

It is likely additional issues will still need remediation beyond tags, the Score may not show 100%.
